At 22-years-old, he competed in his first and only Olympics in Sydney in 2000 where he finished fifth in the finals and ranked in the top-ten internationally. Two decades later, Matt is still the second-fastest Australian sprinter.
He continued to compete in a number of sporting events until 2006. Matt ended his career as an athlete with five National Titles in the 100m and five top-three finishes nationally in the 200m.
Amongst all these sporting achievements, Matt met his wife Jessica at only 17 years old and the pair wed in 2001. Not long after they welcomed three stunning children.
